project life | taking notes

I love project life.  It’s helped me be more consistent about writing down the things my daughters say and do.  I’ve tried lots of different methods in the past, everything from keeping a log on a private blog to writing things down in a little notepad that I kept in my purse. Neither worked for me. The blog was hard to maintain because I’d want to add a photo to the post but sometimes (most of the time) I didn’t feel like editing the photo. And if I didn’t have the photo ready, then I just wouldn’t blog it.  And with the notepad in the purse?  Well, I change purses. A lot.

I’ve been jotting things down in a molekine notebook that I keep in my desk drawer and so far so good!  I write (no pressure to add photos to go with the entries) and I always keep it in the same place so I know exactly where it is when I need it.

This is the week of August 14th. I’m still trying to get caught up with Project Life so I can start prepping for Ali Edward’s December Daily Project. There are no extra inserts this week, just photos and words.

Close up of left side. Really love that there are so many photos of the two of them together this week.

This photo cracks me up.

Gorgeous!! Which kit do you have? You put it together so perfect!! Love your style!!

Thank you Ginger! I’m just using the page protectors and the grid journaling cards. This week I also printed out some journaling cards from one of my printables kits. I’ll update the original post with details and links.

gooorgeous inspiration I do not have kids but everytime I look at your album it makes me want to start project life but mine would not be so interesting!

I think yours would definitely be MORE interesting. 🙂

My Turquoise kit should be arriving in the mail TODAY! Can’t wait to race home from work and check it out. This is my first time trying Project Life, and I’m really excited to see how it goes.

Yay!! Can’t wait to see what you do with it!

Where do you wing these kits. I really would like to do this. I use to scrapbook, but it became to much I love the pockets?

Hi Michelle,

Project life is a system (binder, page protectors, way of scrapping) designed by becky higgins. I’ll update the original post with details and links.

Do you know ‘ohlife.com’? that’s how I write down the things my little boy says and does. It works by email 🙂

Yes! It’s a great system, but doesn’t really work for me since they don’t say things that I want to jot down on a daily basis, it ended up being more work to try to maintain. Glad to hear that it’s working for you!

What are these kits? I’m super intrigued now. I love what you’ve done with the notes and pictures.

I enjoy seeing your project life so much! Your journal tags are like mini hybrid scrap pages. I have to laugh, though, at how your stripy dress matches your paper!!

LOL Esther! Yes, my affinity for stripes shows up in both my scrapping and wardrobe choices. Haha!

Sweet! Thanks! It is awesome!! 🙂

Thanks for sharing the Moleskin notebook idea. I thought about using a weekly planner starting January 1st. Barnes and Noble has some petite pretty ones in fun colors. ( Right now I track my daughter’s happenings in my journal, which is also my to-do list and my sketchbook. It’s getting hard to find things now because there are too many things! ) Beautiful Project Life layout.

I L-O-V-E that you include quotes in different formats! I am starting to get stuck in a rut and I am NOW totally inspired!!! Off to do some PL 🙂 Thanks!

flipping adorable. the quotes are perfection!

Hi! I was wondering. . . where do you get your kraft tags? do you buy them somewhere or you simply cut them from kraft cardstock?

Hey Olga – it’s simply cut from kraft cardstock. 🙂

Can you tell us how you print on the journaling tags? Not sure how to run those through my printer. Love your PL!!!

Thanks so much! I blogged about my printing method here: http://paisleepress.com/2011/08/project-life-how-to-print/

beautiful!! I’ve started since a few days my personal project life, I’m from Italy and here the Becky Higgins method isn’t very known.
bye!!

I love your PL album Liz! It’s also nice to see you back to a little paper scrapping – I loved your paper layouts back in the day on sb.com 😉

I am very curious to hear what you are making with the kraft boxes and imagery in one of your photos. Can you share?

Your simplicity is just brilliant… Love it! What font do you use Liz?
Looking forward to seeing your December Daily too! Cheers

Thank you Carlie. Font is american typewriter.
