a photobooth love project

I was instantly smitten when I saw this Valentine’s photo card project at Martha Stewart last weekend and knew I wanted to make something similar.

Photobucket

Originally I tried to get photos of both my daughters holding up a blank sheet of paper (I planned on adding the message later on in photoshop). That idea didn’t work out too well. Trying to get a 19 month old to hold a sheet of paper and stand still even for a few seconds proved to be a mission impossible.Plan B. I ended up using the photobooth app on my macbook and I gotta say, I kinda really love the way they turned out.

This is what I ended up doing with the printed photobooth strips:

(1) PHOTOBOOTH FRAME
Printed the photos onto an 8×10 photo paper and popped it in an IKEA Ribba frame.

(2) PHOTOBOOTH CARD
Printed a smaller version on 5×7 photo paper.

Front of card. Kept the design simple and the pattern subtle – light grey stripes.

Inside of card. Will probably ask the girls to draw/write on the blank flap.

Back of card. Added a little message, something he says to the girls all the time.

(3) PHOTOBOOTH – PENDING/INTO A SCRAPBOOK ALBUM
I still have an 8×10 sheet of photobooth strips and a smaller strip leftover from the 5×7 print. Not sure what I will do with them, maybe they will end up in the Project Life Binder. (Thanks to Ali Edwards and Kelly of Willette Designs , I caved and ordered one).

If you’re interested in making something similar, you can access all of the project files in my DIY Project No. 4. The kit includes an 5×7, 8×10 and 8.5×11 layered photo template and also the 8.5×11 layered card template seen in example two. The layers are all fully customizable so you can change the colors/text to suit your needs. Enjoy the free download and happy valentine’s day!

Hi Liz! LOVE THIS!!! Thank you so much for sharing………I loaded this to my PS and “placed” the photo, but how do I get the image in the square’s. It’s just placing the image over the top of the square template, not “behind” it. Am I missing a step somewhere? Your expertise would be much appreciated!!!

Hi Corey,

The step you’re missing is “clipping” the photo to the square (aka clipping mask). For directions, refer my layered templates tutorial in STEP 5: Add a Photo

http://paisleepress.com/2009/01/layered-templates-101/

Hello there,

I know this is an awfully late question in light of when you generously shared this photo strip. But, how do you get a three strips in a page? I was able to get it done but with only with the strip that appeared on the downloaded PSD file. Thanks!
