kristi prokopiak I hybrid artist

Hey friends! Hope everyone enjoyed the last little push of summer and is looking forward to full fall fashion mode!

My first page is a simple, but fun ode to napping. The boyfriend and the dog are very good at relaxing! (He would like me to note, I sneakily took these photos over the course of a year. He still likes to sleep a lot though!)

I printed little squares since it’s not so much the “amazingness” of photography, but the sentiment of their adorableness that I wanted to capture. Filled in the empty spots with some simple embroidery thread to give it some texture. I really like the way it turned out, and glad that I finally put all those creeper photos to good use.

Every year, I have someone take a picture of me on my birthday, and I always accompany that photo with my mantra for the year. This birthday, we were in the middle of a road trip and I was looking… less than fresh. We snapped a few and I checked em out with a prompt “eww!” and tried to fluff up my hair a little. Luckily he knows to just always keep snapping because I absolutely love this photo! I wanted to keep the page simple so the focus is on the portrait. I laid down some old number stickers on my patterned paper, traced and cut out for the custom 34 title. A little watercolor splatter and star veneers and it definitely captured the vibe of my yearly mantra.

So, Instax. I love taking these kinds of pictures but often have trouble with the settings (I am completely positive that my settings dial is backwards, but I am willing to consider I may just be a little inexperienced). These are some rejects from the road trip, but I didn’t want to toss them because even bad Instax shots are cool. I decided to group them together and put my title on the super dark one. I loved the arrow paper used with the Medicine Bow picture, and got the idea to add some feathers and seed beads to make it more dimensional. The top part of some alphabet sticker packaging was sealed on both sides, which is awesome because my sewing machine is broken and it eliminated my need to bind the edges (the open end is sealed with masking tape and hidden behind the picture). Fun little nature layout from this continual city girl.

Love this, Kristi. So simple, yet so lovely. Definitely my cup of tea. 🙂

thank you!!!! 🙂

This is awesome, Kristi. I design stationery for a living, so I love great design, but I’m reeeeelatively new to the scrapbooking/project life world and frankly a little wary of cutting and gluing things 😉 Your posts have inspired me to raid my son’s art supplies and try something a little different. Love.

get to it!!! thats the fun part, cause anything is fair game for scrapbook pages. one of my tricks is i use little loops of masking tape to adhere stuff, that way if i change my mind i can just peel something up and reaffix. and it’s WAY cheaper than traditional scrapbooking adhesives.

Your collages are so perfect. You have this knack for making everyday photos look like art pieces. And that hair toss photo? So so awesome.

oh stop 🙂
