a glimpse of this album, and I really do mean just a glimpse

This is the very first digital album that I ever made. The very first album that I ever had printed.

I’ve never posted this album to any public galleries. Some projects are just too personal. No, that’s not really the right word. This was just one of those projects that I wanted to keep private, to be shared only between myself and the person I made the album for – my husband. Ok, maybe personal was the right word. 🙂

I’m sharing a glimpse of it with you today because the album that I’m releasing later today is based on this one.

It was during the making of this album that I discovered my inner minimalist. I wanted to make something that would appeal to my husband’s aesthetics – modern, simple, classic. This may seem like an easy task because that’s what I design now, but back then (circa 2006), I was hopelessly addicted to all things shabby chic and feminine (flowers, pretty ribbons, lace, antiqued elements, inked edges, lots of layering of pretty papers). And for the record, I’m still hopelessly addicted to all of these pretty little things, I just use them in a different way (sparingly) now.

A new album is hitting the shop today – it’s modern + simple, with lots of white space and just enough elements and texture to please our inner shabby-chic tendencies. Stay tuned for the reveal and (for your chance to win one).

Note: The album shown above is a 4×4 linen bound brag book. I designed the pages as 8×8’s and uploaded to shutterfly for print. Shutterfly no longer offers the 4×4 size linen bound brag book.

It looks beautiful. I'm anticipating your new album! Thanks for sharing.

This is just lovely, Liz!

Liz this album looks so nice that it makes noisy to see more of it, but I agree with you that you don't have to share everything with us. 😉 The picture and the page are just lovely and I am looking forward to seeing the other album.

Ooooooh, I remember when you first started down the path of minimalism… I loved your work on your wedding album, and I love that you're offering the album template for sale.

The new album is just lovely! I would love the chance to win! Thanks for giving us a peek at the first album that you made. I too have a shabby chic/feminine side of me and it comes out in my decorating style at home.

Thank you all for your lovely comments.

@barb – I think you might be the only one that remembers my shabby-chic days and I love you that much more for it! 🙂
