My husband loves having family photos around his desk at work, so I put together a desktop calendar using snapshots from this year, a few supplies I had around the house, and the Paislee Press 2017 Calendar Kit.

It couldn’t have been easier to put together. Here’s what you’ll need:

  • Your computer, a printer, and Photoshop or Photoshop Elements
  • An office binder clip for hanging the calendar
  • String or ribbon
  • An A7 envelope (5×7 inches)
  • The Paislee Press 2017 Calendar Kit
  • Scissors and a pen for the gift tag

First, select your snapshots. You’ll need thirteen (one for the cover and twelve for each of the months). I went with a mix of random shots from the year, all taken on my iPhone, plus four photos we took on the “big camera” for our Christmas cards. I put those four shots on the fall months – September through December.

Next, you’ll drop each photo into the digital file in Photoshop (or PS Elements). Liz provides files with borders or without. You can use the same border (or none) throughout or mix it up like I did.

Print your photos at home or elsewhere. I printed them on one of the instant machines at our local drugstore – it cost me about $3.00 to print all thirteen photos. You can print them as 4×6 photos or 5×7 (mine are 4×6). Both sizes are included in the kit.

Finally, grab a few items from around the house to package them together. I used some string to tie them together, an A7 (5.25 x 7.25 inches) kraft envelope I had leftover from holiday cards last year, and a gold office clip.

For the tag, I printed the set of gift tags included in the 2017 calendar kit and cut out one of them. I folded it over the envelope and secured it with the binder clip – no glue or tape needed!

These are lightweight, personal, inexpensive, and easy to throw in the mail or in a stocking. I printed two sets so I have one for my desk as well, and I plan to use some different photos to print a few sets for my aunts.
