by Laura McCandless – Just love this page! White space is used here to create separation for the different “color” stories in her photos. Consistent use of red accents throughout the page creates cohesiveness and ties everything together.

by Laura Kurz – Great example of how journal cards can be used to create a stunning 2 page layout!

by Catherine Saunders – Her project is a great example of how to pull off a clean and minimalist look when using a lot of embellishments. The key to this? Layering (or grouping) elements together.  And building in “breathing room” (white space is our friend!).

Let’s take a closer look. For the top left pocket insert Catherine starts with a 4×6 journal card then adds: a striped tab sticker + photo + circle sticker, gold arrow sticker + mini gold paper clip.

Notice that plenty of white space, on photos and journal cards can be found throughout the layout.

Another example of building a grouping of layered elements. Notice that the heart card is a small block and appropriately scaled to the photo so it doesn’t detract from the main subjects in the photo. And that there is plenty of white space, intentionally left unembellished to create breathing room.
