A collaboration with Rhonda Mason.
When the girls were home on summer break our nine o’clock hour routine changed on a daily basis. Some days we would be out and about running errands or on our way to the park or a play date. Other days we would be at home, still in our pajamas.
These photos were taken less than two weeks ago and I’m already looking at them with nostalgia. I want to remember watching Audrey read the Press Here book out loud and how she exclaimed with utter glee, “This book is like magic.”
I want to remember how much Madeline loves her Pooh Bears, all six or seven of them. I want to remember what play time looked like the summer they were 4 and 5 years old – building forts with pillows and blankets, throwing tea parties, playing dress up and drawing. Always drawing.
All photos taken with Nikon D300 and edited in Lightroom.
Be sure to check out Ronnie’s post to see how she captured the ninth hour.
i think our girls would get along famously as we’re into all the same things. with school starting next week, i’m a bit nostalgic as well…
I’m still not used to how early school starts now, totally was not emotionally prepared to deal with the fact that my older daughter is starting Kindergarten this year! Hope the first week of school goes well for you guys!
Oh I’m quite fond of their drawing too. They are happy pictures!
Thank you kindly Shereen!
How sweet! I love documenting little moments in the day. Have you checked out the Press Here app for the iPad (if you guys have an iPad)? 🙂
I didn’t know thee was an app for the book, will definitely be checking that out. Thanks for letting me know! Audrey will flip for it I’m sure!
Do you use presets to edit your photos or just do it yourself? Do you shoot in manual? These photos of your girls are so cute! I would like to start the same project I think!
Thank you so much Chelsea! I don’t shoot in manual – I use the aperture setting on my Nikon and manually adjust the ISO and F stop values, then edit in Lightroom. No presets were applied to these photos – just tweaking of the exposure/temperature to get the tones I wanted.
Please link us if you start this project, we’d love to see what you capture!
I was going to say the same thing as Michelle – the Press Here app is fantastic! I love it just as much, if not more than, my son. There are no rules or whatever, it’s literally just exploring what different things you can do with the circles and how it interacts with other circles. I do want to check out the book, though. The iPad can’t offer all that a book can! I like to think a book is actually more magical than a touch tablet, in an abstract way. 😉
