Project Life week 5.
My favorite this week is the photo of Madeline on the top left corner. When I’m working on layouts I usually start with my favorite and build the page around it – make sure the colors and tones of the other photos complement the main photo. The rest of the color photos on this page were easy to match because they were taken at the same time. I ended up converting a few photos to black and white so it wouldn’t compete with the colors.
I still love using woodgrain journaling cards – it adds a little of texture/depth and also helps to transition/differentiate between photo sequences (color vs. black and white). The woodgrain journaling cards are printed on photo paper. Anytime I have a blank slot on a 4×6 photo collage, I’ll add the woodgrain card to fill the space. I get the most out of my 4×6 print ( I get them printed at costco) and now I have a nice stash of woodgrain cards on hand when I need them.
I use photoshop and these template sets (1 and 2) to put together 4×6 photo collages.
It was an action packed weekend. A kid’s birthday party on Saturday. I think we’re at that stage where there seems to be a birthday party to attend almost every weekend. On Sunday I went out for afternoon tea with my girlfriends, sans kids. For years we’ve lamented about how “busy life is” and “I can’t believe it’s been 3 months since we’ve seen each other” so this year we’ve committed to getting together more often. Once every 4 – 6 weeks to be exact. Of course, we’ve said the same thing in years past but the difference this time around is that we are making a point of marking a date for our next outing.
Two additional inserts this week. On a 5×7 page protector, a series of photos I snapped of the girls while we were waiting for Eric to get his haircut.
The other side holds a sketch by Madeline, “It’s the unicorn pillow.” (I also love that her “n” is backwards).
Monthly divider using pages from the Mara Mi for Target calendar. (See January’s here.)

always enjoy your project life posts!! and seeing this is only week 5 gives me hope as i am so so SO far behind 🙂 i do have everything organized and am up to date on journaling in a notebook so i just need to print & put together. do you print the woodgrain cards on the glossy or lustre paper from costco?
lustre 🙂 That’s awesome that you’re up to date on journaling, that will make the “catch up” part so much easier and hopefully lessens the burden of feeling behind. I’m not going to let it get me down (and discouraged) like I have in years past though. Let’s keep trekking together. 🙂
I love that you choose the colours and tones of your pages from your favourite. Love the wood grain cards such a great link between your weeks.
Oh so lovely pages! I like the wood grain filler cards. I also appreciate how you show each of the pages individually before you show us how they look together. I get a much better idea of how they look!
Gorgeous pages and photos as usual! Thanks for sharing.
Your PL is so much more simple than mine, but I adore it.
OOh thank you for the great idea – I print my photos at home and sometimes I’ll not print one because then I’d have a bland 4 x 3. No longer! I’ve always admired your woodgrain ones. I just need to find me a texture to print. Fabulous 🙂
I love your layouts, they are awesome. And waow, your monthly dividers are so great! Thanks for all the inspiration.
Thanks for the breakdown on the photo templates – very helpful!
Purchased RadLab this week during their sale – so excited to start using it!
