I’m taking a stack of these with me to the Craft & Hobby Association (CHA) Trade show this weekend. It’s only taken me 6 years to design business cards for myself. I can design up a storm when it comes to making kits and supplies for scrapbooking but when the time comes to design my own branding I don’t know, I freeze up. I put business cards right up there with designing a wedding album, it’s one of those “has to be perfect” things and I’ve yet to feel up for taking on either tasks. If I wasn’t attending CHA this weekend, I’d still be without business cards. And of course these turned out to be far from perfect.
Last night someone pointed out to me that there’s a typo. Sigh. A freaking typo! At this point it’s too late to get a new batch printed in time for….tomorrow. If there was ever a time I wished I could go back in time or just plain have more time, this would definitely be one of them.
Typos aside, I’m still excited. This will be my first time attending the show. I’ve wanted to go for years now, from way back before I was a designer or even had any inkling of an idea I would end up designing for a living. One of the booths I will definitely be visiting is Becky Higgins‘. I cannot wait to see the midnight edition in person. I think that will be a most surreal moment. I’m overwhelmed by the positive response to the midnight edition – your support and kind words mean the world to me. Actually that doesn’t even come close to capturing the depth of gratitude I’m feeling. From the bottom of my heart, thank you.
I’m also SUPER excited for a chance to finally meet in person so many of you I’ve gotten to know over the years via emails, phone calls, tweets and instagrams.
Will you be at CHA? And for those of you that are seasoned attendees, can you fill me in on what to expect? Any tips? I’m considering bringing my DSLR because I want to document this event right, but will I regret having to lug it around all day?
Those look fabulous!!! Wish I could come to the CHA and meet you. I have been dying to go to one since I started scrapping in 2005. Have a blast and can’t wait to read all about it.
If you plan on picking up catalogs, then I would leave the big camera at home. They can get super heavy really fast. Also, I found that the only things I really wanted to take photos of were the people I was meeting – and I wanted to share that instantly. Another -1 for the DSLR.
I hope you have a truly fantastic time at CHA, Liz. I can only dream of ever being lucky enough to attend such a prestigious event! Can’t wait to read all about your adventures. Enjoy!
Nooo….. not a typo!!! Not to worry, I think your cards look so good that that will probably distract most people from the typo. Have the BEST time Liz. Look forward to finding out all about it from your point of view. Meanwhile, I’m about to send you MY email.
Have fun!

Have a wonderful time! I just got your newsletter and was excited to see your news about Midnight. I guess I didn’t read the info about the kits on Becky’s site well enough, I was too busy drooling over all the fabulous new choices. I totally didn’t notice one of my favorite designers had created one. But now that I know you did, I can totally tell it’s your style. Congratulations and while lugging the camera might be a pain this is such a special occasion I don’t think you’ll regret it. You’ll just be glad to be beautiful images of this exciting time.
Looking forward to meeting up with you this weekend and seeing your midnight. The sneak peeks look fabulous.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE the Midnight edition. So beautiful. I hope you design more kits for PL!
