Pocket Scrapbooking: Using Inserts

It’s been so long since I’ve had an semblance of “routine” when it comes to my own memory keeping. The biggest challenge for me was finding the right size and committing to it. I’m still going back and forth between 6×8 and 6×12. The small compact size of the 6×8 is so appealing but I worry that I will easily fill up two to three albums just to document one year, and well, storage will fast become an issue. I’m currently leaning towards giving the 6×12 format a try. Instead of hemming and hawing about what might work…the only way to find out what will work best is to just dive in and do it, right? So here we go.

This is the start of February 2016. Here I added a photo insert to create a visual separation between the end of January and the beginning of February.

The size of the insert is 4.5×8. I went with these dimensions because I wanted this insert to completely cover the left side of the 3×4 pockets and partially cover the right side of the 3×4 pockets.

The back side of the insert is a collage of photos taken on Valentine’s Day. Every year we shoot a photobooth series to make a Valentine’s Card for Eric.

I like that these inserts allow me to include more photos in a format that is different from the standard pocket format – and that I’m able to include more photos and still maintain a clean and minimalist look.

I’m currently hosting a challenge in the MPM Forum at the Lilypad and would love to have you join me there!  The challenge is simply to incorporate an insert in your pocket scrapbooking project. The MPM Challenges are to open to EVERYONE and there are no product requirements involved. Our goal with these monthly challenges is simply to inspire you to try new techniques that you may not otherwise use and to keep your documenting momentum going!

Ready to try this one?  Stop by the challenge thread HERE.
