Step-by-Step DIY for Friendsgiving Menu and Place Cards

As a kid, I used to love writing place cards for holiday dinners. Those little details make a holiday meal extra-festive, even if they’re a little old-fashioned.

This year, we’re hosting Friendsgiving the week before Thanksgiving, since we’ll be traveling over the holiday weekend.

Whether you’re hosting a Friendsgiving or Thanksgiving, putting together some special details doesn’t have to take much time, but they can make even a casual event feel extra special.

I used the Friendsgiving kits from Paislee Press to put together a menu / place card quickly and easily.

Read on for the step-by-step tutorial.

Supplies you’ll need:

I did three things in Photoshop before sending everything to print:

First, I added text to the wreath journaling card.

Second, I added the “menu” handwritten text to the patterned journaling card.

Third, I typed up our menu and printed it on 3×4 white cards.

You can see how I print on odd-sized journaling cards here.

I printed the 3×4 cards at home and sent the 4x6s to a photo printer.

Once the 4x6s were printed, I stuck them back-to-back using 2-sided tape.

Then, I used the adhesive to affix the menu to the patterned card on the back.

Lastly, I added the place card.

I played with a few ways to do this, but I started with black card stock, cut to approximately 1.25 inches x 4 inches and added the name with a white gel pen.

Then I tried using the clothespin or just adhering a strip of the paper directly to the card.

These little menus are a simple, inexpensive detail that I think will be a hit at our Friendsgiving table!

You can find more of me over on Instagram or on my blog – there’s new content going up there every week these days! It’s like a Christmas miracle 🙂
