Jamie Waters: including yourself in your scrapbooks

I am the first one to admit that there’s not enough of ‘me’ in my scrapbooks! Mine are jam packed with pages of my kids. When I started to realize I needed to add more of me into my books, I started to photograph the things I love and places I’ve been. More details that screamed me. If you’re like me, you’re more frequently behind the camera in front of it. I rarely have photos of myself to scrapbook. While I haven’t completely embraced the selfie and included them in my scrapbooks, I try to make sure I include photos of myself more often than ever. This one was taken in The Grand Canyon and while I’m just a little detail in the grand scheme of the canyon, I needed to print it 6×8 big and it needed just little embellishing. When I hand wrote the word ‘this’ on the MAKE TIME FOR card, I meant more of me. More of documenting my thoughts and actions that pertain to me. I thought this Positive Vibes kit was perfect for this self reflection, future goals page. It was the first project life layout I made so far for 2017 and I like to think it is making a declaration for the rest of the year. The softness of the flowers along with the dark colors really grabbed my attention.
Adding just a few touches, simple washi tape, neutral embellishments make putting this spread together easy. I love that the colors of the kit complimented the main 6×8 photo. Though I didn’t have more photos of just me on this day, I like to think it’s a statement photo and that the Positive Vibes kit just flows alongside it.
