Hello darlings! Can you believe that it’s already November already!? Whaaaat. As I get closer to the end of the year, my ability to put a lot of effort into a project diminishes. It doesn’t mean that I’m happy with average projects, though. Just easier. This handbound journal fits right in there with easy input for major output.

Print out a bunch of digital papers that have patterns on both sides. I used the gorgeous Friendsgiving ones and didn’t even bother with choosing which goes where as they all match each other perfectly. I did print the floral one twice to make an even number. Pretty sure that’s my favourite paper in ages.

Cut down to 22 x 21 cm for a Traveler’s Notebook size.

Fold each in half. Bone folders are cheap and magical, but a popsicle stick or clean ruler will work too, just less smoothly.

Leave the paper to flatten underneath a stack of books overnight.

Stick five holes into the middle of the papers with an awl or a needle. One in the center and then two on either side of that.

Stitch. I used the bookbinding maverick Vanessa’s tutorial at Get Messy, but you can Google how to do a regular pamphlet stitch.

I love my fancy gold yarn.

And voila. It’s an actual book now!

I love putting vellum and old book pages into my handbound journals, but I kept it completely simple this time with just the digital papers.

Add some extra bits to the cover. I love that lace, and it’s a struggle not to use it in every single project of mine.

See you again next month.
