carly robertson | wishing jar project

Hello everyone! It’s Carly here today to share a quick and simple craft project I did awhile back to help my family and I capture fun little messages and memories. I started with three mason jars and using the the Wishing Jar kit and made three tags for each jar, one tag for each of my daughters and one for our family. I then attached the tags to the jars with twine and here is where the fun begins!

Using the pre-made mini tags in the kit I simply printed a bunch of them out so that I had them on-hand and ready to write on. I put the mini tags in a bowl with a pen beside the jars and when inspiration hit, we would simply write out our messages, memories and wishes on the tags and add them to the jars.

Often our messages would be of things that we were wishing for, or sometimes they were capturing special things that happened to us, and other times they just documented an event or happening that we wanted to remember. Once the jars started over-flowing with messages I would take them out and tape or glue them to an 8.5×11 piece of cardstock, label the top of the paper with the name of what jar the messages came from and put them in an envelope at the back of my Project Life binder.

This such a simple memory keeping idea and truly so much fun to look back on. Often when we can’t get outside because of the weather or are just having a quiet day at home, we will pull out some of the messages from the jars and just start sharing them. It’s always so much fun to hear what others are writing about and wishing for.
