Project Life 2013, Week 13 and sticking with what works

Do you have a favorite go-to formula when it comes to putting layouts together? Mine, hands down, is pairing a collage of small photos with one large photo. I use this with photobooks and now this is fast becoming a new favorite way to document vacations in our project life album.

Our weekend trip to Vegas documented across 4 pages. It’s pretty comprehensive or at least I don’t think a separate photobook is needed, which I often feel, especially when it comes to trips. One thing that is lacking?  Words and stories.

When I made these pages (over 6 months ago), my memory keeping goals were simple: get photos printed and into this album in a somewhat timely manner. Lately, I’ve been spending more time journaling. I mean, I’m behind as it is, so why not spend a little extra time on that? Maybe it’s because I’m still working on last year’s memories and I’m feeling more nostalgic. Whatever the reason, the thoughts and stories, things I want to our girls to know…the words are coming to me more easily. Odd isn’t it?  Maybe the storyteller in me is finally starting to come out. Maybe what I once thought was impossible is possible after all.

Oh. So. Good Liz!
I’ve been feeling a little bored and stagnant with my photos lately. You’ve inspired me to look through my lens a little differently this week.

I love love seeing your spreads!

Thanks so much Rachel! Coincidentally, I have been feeling the same way about my photos recently… doing the same thing over and over again. I need to shake things up a bit!

Fabulous spreads! And yes, I have totally found a go-to “recipe”, as I call it, for my Project Life pages. I love it, but I don’t want to get too “stuck” with it either. It definitely makes creating simple and easy though.

Yes, a recipe most definitely simplifies the process. Glad you’ve found your groove!

What an eye you have! Love your work, my dear friend.
I like throwing in some white space when images are too busy, converting to black and white, and putting white text on negative space in images. Design twin, much?

Haha, totally. Can’t think of anyone I’d rather be design twins with. You know I’m a HUGE fan of everything you do!
