jamaica’s project life | just peachy

Hey there, it’s jamaica.

Ever had one of those weeks where you just can’t figure out how to make all the pieces fit together? When there’s too many photos, or not enough? When they don’t all look good together? It happens to me all the time. Usually I’ll just choose different photos to use or move some to another page (I’ve given up worrying about everything being perfectly chronological. As long as it’s within the right month, it’s fine). Sometimes I’ll change a few of the photos to black and white. Or, I’ll sew on an extra pocket to hide a few extra photos behind.

This time I tried something different: I spread my photos out across more pages and used one color to tie everything together. As I started rearranging the photos I noticed quite a few had hints of peach or red in them. Magic Hour had just been released and I was inspired by the mix of navy and corals.

I started with the soft peach from Magic Hour and went on the hunt for more. The darker coral with red patterning and the Weekend Adventure paper from Up and Away look great with the peach and help balance out the darker colors in the spread.

The “weekend” in my title is from The Weekender. I used the magic wand to select just the word “weekend” from the Weekend in Review flag, copied and pasted it over the background, added my own text beneath it and made it a lovely coordinating shade of persimmon.

The back side of the first small insert is dedicated to the ladies “crafternoon” but the photos and the colors still work perfectly with the page beneath it. And, with the the menu I brought home. The orange lines from my notepad paper and little red letter stickers helping to continue the color story.

The last piece, backing the menu, is an orange and pink pattern from Downtime. Pinky-reds, orangy-pinks, and reddish-oranges… they’re all fantastic together. And great with all the various shades of blue in my photos. As I was looking for peachy-red options, I realized quickly that Liz must be a fan too because you can find more beautiful corals in More + Less, Because, On My Desk, and Road Trip, just to name a few.

Next time you’re stuck, try picking a common accent color from your photos and using several shades of it across your spread.

xo, jamaica
