project life: november 2012

This is my project life entry for the second half of November 2012. I managed to fit it all in a two page spread. It was a crazy crazy month. Didn’t pick up the camera much. Didn’t get much of anything done except for work, work and more work.

I used Design A + Design G.  Have I mentioned lately how much I’m digging the Design G pocket pages?  Love it especially when combined with Design A, it’s the perfect mix of landscape + portrait spots.  I’ll probably be using this combo to finish out 2012.  I might move to using Design G exclusively for 2013, it all depends on if I can find an album in just the right size.

I used to take the majority of my photos in the morning, that’s the only time we get decent light in the house. Then the girls started going to school and mornings turned hectic and taking photos was the farthest thing from my mind. I managed to get a few in last month and seeing these is a good reminder that I need to get back to taking more photos. I like these glimpses into daily and very ordinary routines.

We hosted Thanksgiving Dinner at our house this year…and I completely forgot to take photos throughout the day. Didn’t think to take photos until after dinner and even then, it was just this quick snapshot. Next year I will make it a point to take family photos.  Maybe set up a Thanksgiving Photobooth?

Here’s the right side using Design G.  I’ve been really into taking photos from the overhead perspective, especially when it comes to food shots. Yes, I’m one of those crazy people.

Beautiful as always Liz!

I have loved the design G page protectors too and found that Russell and Hazel makes a binder – http://www.russellandhazel.com/content/signature-three-ring-binder.

I totally want to use this one but am a little concerned that the page protectors may stick out because the binder is exactly 10.75×12. If you find another album size, please do share:)

I just ordered this album with the intent to use the Design G protectors this coming year. Fingers crossed that the PPs don’t stick out.

Thank you for linking to the binder. OH my it’s gorgeous! I just might have to order one to check it out. Wish it were a 2″ Ring Binder, then it would be perfect! I’ll definitely let you know if I stumble across something Michele!

I just got my r+h binder and, sadly, the Design G PPs stick out on all 3 sides 🙁 May just need to do 12×12.

Oh my god, I’m definitely a huge fan of your layouts! They are so beautiful. Love your style! Thanks a lot for sharing. Have a nice day.

Thanks Marie!

I LIVE to see your Project Life updates. I really connect to your clean, elegant aesthetic. I’m just starting PL this year, and I would really, really love to see how you put a page together. (From how you print your inserts (all at once for a spread or one at a time?) and what tools you use. I’ve taken a peek at your products, and I’d love to use them. They seem like they’re only for people doing digital scrapbooks, but you still use it in your traditional one. Any chance you could show how you go from start to finish using your products (like the woodgrain cards)?

Thanks Elaine! Yes, I’ll put a walk-through post on my list of things to do. My journaling card kits include both PNG files (for digi scrapbooking) and PDF files (for hybrid/project life inserts – just print and cut the cards). You don’t need photoshop or digi scrapping skills to use the PDF files. 🙂

I am a food person too! lol. And the food shot you took is super, awesome! What great photo quality. 🙂 Mine always look like “food” … your’s looks like – “WOW – party!” 😉

haha. Mine usually look like “food” photos too – I take way a lot of them and most of them don’t end up in my PL. Only the “party” looking ones – those are few and far between.

Gorgeous! As always. That is all. 🙂

p.s I’ve heard so much about Design G – am increasingly convinced I need to give it a go!

can’t wait to see what you do with Design G!

photo editing by VSCO? drawing a blank on this one? Thanks Liz, gorgeous as always

as always, Google is my friend= got it, LOL

Apologies that I’m just now responding, I’m glad you found it! I’ve been using the VCSO app on my iphone for instagram photos and love the filters. Their LR presets are amazing!

Love your pages Liz, I love taking food photos too… And my family does tend to think I’m crazy when I stop them eating to take a photo 🙂

Hi Liz. Uh I feel a bit silly asking this, especially if you have already answered it. I absolutely love your layouts. So much so I bought the wood grain journaling cards. The thing is though I am very new to PL (started this week actually) and I have a basic grasp of photoshop. But I want my journal cards to look as pretty as yours, so I was wondering do you print you wood grain cards on photo paper or card stock?

Hi Aimee! Excited that you are embarking on the project life journey! I’ve printed them on both cardstock and photo paper – the ones shown in this post were all printed on photo paper though. Hope that helps!
