I headed to vegas with three of my best girlfriends. No kids, no husbands. Just us girls. I hadn’t stepped foot in a plane since…2006? Boy, have things changed a lot in the past 6 years! I wasn’t particularly fond of Southwest Airline’s no assigned seating policy way back in the day. Remember having to stand in line to board – and eventually end up sitting on the grimy airport carpet because the wait was so damn long you got tired of standing but you didn’t want to lose your place in case all the overhead bins were taken by the time you boarded?  Now they assign you a spot in the boarding line when you check in. Freaking genius. Old news right? It’s been way too long since I’ve traveled. I forgot that I needed to have my boarding pass and driver’s license out and ready to hand over to the TSA guys. And I forgot to take off my cardigan (and shoes. and cell phone) before going through the body scan thing. Yes. I was the clueless traveler that everyone else shakes their head at.

This was my first time away from my daughters.  A part of me was worried that I would miss them too much to really be able to enjoy the weekend. Yes, I did miss them but I also got a chance to get reacquainted with things that I took for granted before I became a mom – simple luxuries like sleeping in and having a leisurely meal and talking for hours on end with girlfriends. Good times. I cant’ wait to do it again next year.

All photos were taken with my iphone. I made a photobook of our weekend in Vegas. It arrived yesterday. I can’t wait to go through it, makes changes where needed and order copies to send to my girlfriends.
