A challenge for you (and some freebies too)

Today’s marks the beginning of our month long designer spotlight at Oscraps.

Our first challenge is up in the Oscraps forum right now. From now through Saturday, Feb 12th, we’re challenging you to document a quote from your life – a conversation with a loved one, a word, a love letter, the lyrics to a favorite song, your wedding vows or your favorite line from a movie. The only requirement is that it be a quotation.

Conversations play such an important role in our lives. My 3 year old daughter talks non stop, all day long, and the funny things she says usually ends up being the one of the first things Eric and I talk about at the end of the day. We’re good at talking about what she says, not so great about documenting it. My attempts at keeping a file of “things she says” have been sporadic at best. (More on this later this week). In preparing for this spotlight Peppermint and I have been regularly writing down the little phrases and dialogues that we want to remember and it’s been like opening Pandora’s box. If you don’t believe us, try it this week! Challenge yourself to write down one quote a day, whether it’s a Facebook status update, something your child or spouse said to you, something you remember from your past – once you set your mind to documenting these things it’ll amaze you how many of these meaningful exchanges pass in and out of your day.

We’ve created a bunch of products for you to use in this first challenge. As part of our spotlight feature, these products are free for you to download during the duration of this challenge (thru Feb 12, 2011).

All of these coordinate with the kit we released last week, Dialogue.

The Rules:

* Use at least one of the freebies in the design of your page
* Use 100% Oscraps product (from any designer)
* Post your layout in the Oscraps Designer Spotlight Gallery with your credits
* Post a link to your layout (and the image, if you know how) to the Designer Spotlight Thread
* You must post your layout by Saturday, February 12th at Midnight EST-USA

Everyone who plays along with us (all month long, there will be another challenge starting Feb 13th) will receive a $2 participation code for your next purchase at our collab shop, which will be filling up with additional products throughout this journey.

In addition, Peppermint and I will be choosing one Master of Dialogue winner at the end of the month, a person with a very memorable and/or above-and-beyond project in one of the challenges. That person will win a one month guest spot on both of our Creative Teams for the month of their choosing.

There will also be a prize for the Most Projects Submitted – a $15 coupon to One Little bird and a $15 coupon to Paislee Press.

After that, everyone who meets the challenge guidelines will be entered into a random drawing for the following three prizes:

* Prize 1 – $10 coupon to One Little Bird and $10 coupon to paislee press
* Prize 2 – $5 coupon to One Little Bird and $5 coupon to paislee press
* Prize 3 – $5 coupon to One Little Bird and $5 coupon to paislee press

The more projects you complete, the more times you’re entered to win.

this is for po-po (grandma)

JOURNALING: No matter where we are you always manage to find a fallen leaf and proudly declare that you’re bringing it home to give to po-po (grandma). “This is for Po-Po.”

Catchphrase

JOURNALING: Everything good is “epic” right now – filled with epic-ness, covered in epic-osity. Ever since you started declaring things “epic” the word has infiltrated our daily vernacular. Tom and I find ourselves unwittingly asking ourselves “Will he think this is epic?” or “Is this going to rate high on the epic meter?” When you exclaim that something is epic then we know it’s good; that we’ve stumbled upon something truly magnificent. I love that it’s your word of the moment. It’s so much more interesting than “awesome” or “cool”. But then again, you’re always on the cutting edge of what’s hot. Some might even say you’re epic.

And we’re just getting started, we have a ton of inspiration yet to come – and a whole new challenge beginning February 13th. We hope you’ll join us!
